Get Your Money's Worth With AARP Homeowners Insurance

Your home is one of your greatest assets in life, your security for the future. Protecting your asset with AARP homeowners insurance is one of the smartest decisions you could ever make in your life.

Before we go into the coverage and benefits of the AARP insurance policy, let us first look at the nonprofit organization behind this insurance. The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) offers various discounts and services to its members. Anyone who are 50 years old and above can become a member of the AARP. They just have to pay $12.50 as annual membership fee.

By becoming a member of the AARP, you get to take advantage of the various offerings of the organization, including wellness information and advocacy. So far, the nonprofit has about 36 million members, with many of them still working.

One of the benefits provided to the AARP members is discounted homeowners’ insurance rates. Some of the benefits under the AARP Homeowners Insurance program are:

Protector PLUS Homeowners Deductible Forgiveness:

Under this program, the AARP will wave as much as $5,000 of the deductible if you reported about $20,000 or more qualifying loss. The AARP insurance program provides protection coverage on your house which means as much as 100 percent of the total cost will be replaced. The nonprofit pledged to pay the total cost to rehabilitate your home even if the repair costs as much as 150 percent of your policy’s applicable limits.

Extra Valuable Coverage:

The AARP insurance program offers full extra valuable coverage. This means that unlike other insurance policy in which only selected items are covered, this type of AARP policy may cover almost all your valuable possessions at home, including jewelry, furs and credit cards. Plus, you can also purchase additional coverage for the replacement of your door locks or spoiled foods.

Additional Limits Coverage:

This benefit gives you an opportunity to buy extra coverage for your policy. Some additional coverage may include structures insurance and loss of use. This feature of the AARP insurance will allow you to customize the coverage while at the same time, control costs.

Lifetime Renewability:

This benefit means that 2 months after you have subscribed for the AARP insurance, there will be no termination or cancellation of your policy as long as you meet certain requirements such as on time payment of premiums and insuring your house for about 80 percent of its rebuilding value.

Furniture replacement costs:

The AARP insurance allows replacement of your personal possession, such as clothing and furniture. And when it comes to replacing items, depreciation is never considered. What is good about this coverage is that you can replace your belongings for the same value and not with items that cost less.

When shopping for homeowners insurance for your condominium, apartment or mobile home, you can have peace of mind if you start your search with AARP homeowners insurance. You can also purchase flood or fire insurance as supplement coverage. Just a reminder, get at least three quotes before you decide on one policy.
